RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 619329. Bbl. 24". Barrel marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 12-15". Receiver also dates from 1915. Rifle which is in nice condition has the "N.R.A." with "flaming bomb" on the trigger guard tang. This marking was done to differentiate rifles which were legally purchased by NRA members as opposed to a government issue rifle, which may not have been obtained legally. Ladder rear sight with volley notch. Dished elevation and windage knobs. Blade front sight. Sight blade has been slightly modified for target shooting. Straight down bolt handle. Bolt is marked with partial "S" under safety lug and punch proof under bolt handle. All milled furniture including fine checkered trap buttplate. Grooved trigger. Receiver does not have Hatcher hole. "S" type walnut stock set. Stock has single recoil bolt. Marked on left side with crisp boxed "JSA". Encircled script "P" proof under grip. Marked with "L" & "F" in cutoff recess. CONDITION: stock set has the condition expected from careful use with only very light wear and scattered handling marks. Metal retains 70% of its thinning original blue finish with light wear. Receiver has a notably mottled appearance common to the rifles of this era. Bore is shiny, but with lightly worn lands and small areas of frosting expected from extensive careful use. (25-6291/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
